PEMBINAAN KARAKTER ISLAMI DI SD AL-HIKMAH INDONESIA

Technological development and social changes in the modern era have influenced students’ character,
including the decline of religious values, discipline, and Islamic morals among elementary school
children. This condition requires Islamic educational institutions to implement character-building
strategies integrated into school culture. This study aims to describe the development of Islamic
character at SD Al-Hikmah Indonesia through the role of the principal, teachers, and religious
habituation programs applied to students. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach
using observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The research subjects consisted of the
principal, teachers, and sixth-grade students of SD Al-Hikmah Indonesia. The findings revealed that
Islamic character building was carried out through habituation methods integrated into daily school
activities, such as the 5S culture (smile, greeting, salutation, politeness, and courtesy), congregational
dhuha prayer, Qur’an recitation, qiyamullail activities, spiritual learning, and moral reinforcement in
every learning process. The principal acted as a role model, school culture motivator, and policymaker
in creating a religious and conducive educational environment. The success of Islamic character
development was also supported by collaboration among schools, teachers, and parents in
continuously fostering positive habits among students.
